What to Have Ready Before You Call a Bail Bondsman
If a loved one is in need of a bond, Delco Bail Bonds breaks down what you will need in order to fulfill the bonds process.
It’s tough to stay calm when a loved one has been arrested. First, take a deep breath, then review this 5-Minute Checklist before calling a bail bondsman. This quick review will ensure you’re doing everything necessary to properly handle the situation.
The Defendant’s Full Legal Name and Date of Birth
If you’re in a panic, you might mistakenly list the defendant’s nickname instead of his or her full legal name exactly as it appears on their ID. Take a moment to think before you provide the name. You’ll also need their date of birth.
The Defendant’s Current Location (If You Know It)
If you know it, you’ll need to provide the defendant’s current location, including the name and address of the jail. Providing the time of arrest, booking number, and charges is also helpful for the bail bondsman to locate the defendant.
The Co-Signer Details
Choose a bond co-signer and have their name, address, and employment information ready. The bail bondsman will require one or more co-signers on the bond, who will act as an indemnitor, assuming responsibility for the defendant to appear in court. The Money Question: Do I need the full cash now?
Relax- you don’t need to provide 100% of the bail amount in cash- just a percentage to start, typically 10%, and we will figure out the rest. Delco Bail Bonds has a convenient online portal where you can pay by credit card, and we also accept money orders. If you can’t afford to pay the full amount at once, visit our Payment Plans page to learn more about our no-interest payment plans.
