How Does Lawyer Referral Work?
In Pennsylvania, the primary lawyer referral service is operated by the Pennsylvania Bar Association. When you contact them, you will explain your legal issue to a representative.
They will then look through their database of attorneys, all of whom have volunteered to accept referrals in specific practice areas, and find a lawyer who is suitable for your needs and immediately available to take your case. The system rotates lawyers and considers your issue and location, ensuring you find a lawyer close enough to help you. You will pay a small fee for the initial consultation, part of which goes to the lawyer and part of which goes to the referral service to cover their costs. This fee is waived for contingency arrangements in Pennsylvania but does not include criminal defense.
These services are available 24/7.
